Our Process

OUR PROCESS

Every piece that we make has a lengthy process behind the scenes - from design to production, before the final delivery to you.

All our pieces are handmade using an ancient wax casting technique by gifted artisans in Jaipur, India.

Step 1: Design

We are searching for inspiration everywhere, but particularly for ancient Indian crafts that have been forgotten or ones that could really use a modern spin. Once identified, the inspiration proves as a jumping point to multiple rounds of sketching and discussions amongst our founder and the design team before a more technical spec is created for each design.

Step 2: CADs

After we have short-listed the final design, we team up with our manufacturing partners to create 3D CADs off of the tech specs so every single detail can be defined and understood across the team. This is a critical step to identify any changes or issues in the design prior to kicking of development.

Step 3: Moulds

Next a rubber mould is created from the 3D CAD to act as a key for production.

Step 4: Wax Tree

Models are attached to a sprue wax tree to create negative image of the jewelry where metal will be poured.

Step 5: Casting

925 Sterling silver is used as a foundation for every piece made at Aakshi, by pouring the metal into the moulds created in the wax tree.

Step 6: Setting

Each piece is then filed to clean up edges, as well as to solder or link any additional pieces.

Step 7: Plating & Polish

Each piece is meticulously polished to remove any blemishes or scratches from the surface of the jewelry. Then, the gold pieces are plated with a generous micron layer of 18K gold for that deep, radiant hue, and sealed with electron coating to ensure longevity. Silver creations are treated with an anti-tarnish finish to maintain their brilliance.

Step 8: Quality Check

Finally, each and every single piece is checked for quality against the approved samples at the factory and then once it arrives to the studio to make sure we only ship you the best.

Since each piece is handmade, it is truly one of a kind; no two pieces are the same.

18K Gold Plating

Our jewelry is finished with a thick layer of 18k gold micron plating, celebrated for its rich hue. Each piece is then sealed with an electron coating to preserve its luster and ensure lasting durability - made to be worn every day, treasured deeply, and passed down through generations.
